Florence & Siena. P4 easter trip

We were in Florence for 3 days. Like all the other cities we had been to in Italy, we had tours in the morning and then free time in the afternoon.

^^ The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore . The basilica is one of Italy's largest churches.

^^The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore agian, until the modern era, the dome was one of the largest in the world. It remains the largest brick dome ever constructed.

^^ one of the museums i went to in florence. The detail in these where AMAZING.
take the photo below for example.

^^ this is at the same museum, however i cannot remember the name. If you can see the image, the roof detail in this stairway is amazingly beautiful.

^^ the statue of david. You are not aloud to take photos in this building, however i thought you need to see this. All throughout the walk we could hear the italian women screaming "NO PHOTO" but i think it was worth it.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Siena was small, but beautiful at the same time.

^^The Duomo of Siena (that little black shadow is me)

^^ the streets of Siena.
* in Siena there where not many photos taken.
next posts will be of the cruise.

Vatican & Pisa. P3 easter trip

We didn't see the whole town of Pisa, we just saw the Piazza dei Miracoli (plaza of miracles) and the Leaning towner of Pisa.

^^ here is The Plaza of Miracles. This name was created by the Italian writer and poet Gabriele d'Annuzio who described the plaza as The Ardea rotated over the sky of Christ, over the meadow of Miracles."

^^some of the girls and i with the leaning tower.

^^ b&w. Holding the tower of Pisa. (can i be more of a tourist?)

^^ agian, a tourist photo. Me trying to hold up the tower.

*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*

We had a tour to the Vatican City. The Tour Guild showed the group where the Pope came to give his two yearly speaches to the public and then where he waved to the public on sundays before church. The italians were getting ready for the Easter Celebration and to me, it looked like thousands of chairs all lined up row after row. It interests me greatly how the Vatican City is its "own country" with the population at 826.

St. Peter's Basilica holds 60,000 people in one sitting.

^^ The interior of St. Peter's Basilica. It was amazing, it really was.

^^Here i am inside St. Peters Square. Infront of St. Peter's Basilica .

I find that this statue is beautiful.

Roma. P2 easter trip

In Roma, we had three tours. Ancient Roma, Modern Roma and then the Vatican City.
The Ancient Roma included tours of the Colosseum, Arch of Constantine and ruins of the old city and town.

^^Ancient Roma. The Ruins.

^^ this photo was taken from a roof bar. I love the colours of Rome. I love the colours of Italy.
↓ Below shows the inside "layers" of the Colosseum.

^^ Here is the Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, the detail is just amazing. Its what i love about history, all the detail that went into every little square meter.

Modern Rome however showed us statues, the trevi fountain and the spanish steps.

^ me with Jullus Caesar himself, in statue form.

^^the trevi fountain.
throw one coin in and you will be back in roma.
throw two coins in and you will find the love of your life in a week.
throw in three, you will be divorced in a year.

- and i after throwing in two coins, i was given, nothing.
i did not find the love of my life in a week.. :)

^^ after throwing in two coins. I really like this photo.
i might like it even more if that lady wasn't standing next to me.

^^ on the spanish steps in italy.

Padova Verona. Venice. P1 easter trip

So it has been a week now since Italy, except it feels like yesterday. So I am not going to write every single detail about my trip as I am sure you don't want to know what I wore, what I ate etc.

So the first place we went to was Padova, which was where we had the hotel. If you have never heard of Padova, it is pretty much in between Venice and Verona. It has nothing there, but it was pretty enough, I mean it was still part of Italy.

^^ this here is the view from the river.
^^ this here is a church viewed from the river. I was going to go into it, but it was an hour wait.

We still stayed in Padova, but went for a day trip to Venice. That was pretty amazing, as I am sure you can imagine. However, the day we went the weather was just terrible! Everybody just got SOAKED. The places in Venice were truly amazing. To get there, we took a little boat along the river, however we couldn't take photos because of the rain on the windows. Then once in the main area of Venice we walked around and took photos. It was a walking parade of umbrellas I swear.

^^ these were platforms around venice, so people could walk on them where areas were really flooded.
If you can see, the floor is quite shiny as it had at least an inch of water on the ground.

^^ I really like this photograph. The water looks amazing agianst the blue boat poles and it
shows the type of transport they use as well as all the houses.

^ this shows how thin the streets of Venice are. Also how tall they are.

^here is another photo of the river and the buildings.

When we went to Verona, on the third day I wasn't really sure how it would go. I had never heard of it before but it was quite pretty. Actually very pretty. We went to Juilets house. (from Romeo & Juliet) which I thought was strange as she is a fictional character. However there was a love wall, where people from ALL over the world had written love messages. It was creepy when you found your name and it said like "Sarah loves ----" or something like that. I wrote "Sarah loves K&L" because I didn't know what else to write. :)

^^ With the Verona Area.

^^ The whole group of girls with the Juiliet Statue.

^^ Writing on the Wall. I didn't notice this until now but above my head there is "SARAH" written in big black marker.

^^ Outside a Building & Tower with Natasha in Verona.

Italyy!!

okay, as i have not updated lately, its because i am in ITALY. finally! Its so amazing, except i cannot upload photos, as its an Internet cafe thing.
Well so first i went to Padova, never heard of it? Neither had I. So we went there, but i think it was because its between Venice (the town on water) and Verona (the home to juilette, which is silly because she is a fictional character). So Venice was AMAZING. The architecture is seriously beautiful, sometimes i think Europeans are so lucky to have all this history in their country. Except, the downfall of this day was the fact that it rained, and heavily as well.
Verona was amazing, i wrote on the "love wall" and wrote "Sarah ♥ k & l" cause im so nice.
After this, we went to Roma (the capital of Italy) it was one of the most amazing cities i have ever possibly been to. The Colosseum was amazing at night, and we where about 500m away from it. Threw coins in the Trevi fountain and just walked around, we were there for five days and i learnt the bus system and everything.. :) During this we also had a visit to the Vatican City, i find that it is so strange that this is also its own country... The Vatican was already setting up for Easter and there were SOOO many chairs. The church was beautiful.
Went to Sienna yesterday, just looked around the town and such.Florance now, and saw some of Michelangelo statues, he was a talented guy that one.
well, thats all for now, soon to be EGYPT, TURKEY, GREECE.. (on a cruise, of course ;) )then back to Switzerland.

want anything? email me.

miss you all,
xx. S

Hey guys, so the otherday it SNOWED. Just when i thought it was finished, we had one last (hopefully) snow storm. However, the ground was too hot, so the snow didn't really build up.

Okay, so i leave for Italy on SATURDAY.

Artclass today, we drew a portrait, i hadn't really drawn this style before, but i think i quite like it, what do you think?

I dont know who it is of, probably nobody.
